To provide an image-pickup system which is easily and accurately remote-controlled.
This system consists of building blocks containing, an image- pickup device 10, a server computer 20 and a client computer 30, and an instruction from an operator entered through the client computer 30 is sent to the server computer 20 via a communication channel, such as the internent and sent to the image-pickup device 10 placed at a remote place via an interface RS232C or the like. Furthermore, a photographed image is sent to the client computer 30 via the communication channel and displayed on a monitor 34. The operator observing the display provides an operating instruction. Amounts for a photographing direction and a field angle driven by a one-time operation in the operation instruction has been preset. A panning/tilt control microcomputer 3 drives a panning motor 5 and a tilt motor 6 of a panning/tilt device 4 to set the photographing direction, and a camera control microcomputer 2 drives a zoom motor 17 of the image-pickup device 10 to set the photographing field angle.
