To provide a remote monitoring device of an elevator suitable for emergency application, by improving a state where abnormal reporting becomes unreachable to a monitoring center, when an earthquake occurs.
When an earthquake detecting means 30A of the monitoring center 30 detects an earthquake, gathering of operation information on the elevator performed via a second telecommunication line 4 by an operation information gathering center 5 at normal time, is interrupted within control of this monitoring center 30. A terminal unit 1 connected to an elevator control device 8 transmits the abnormal reporting to the controlling monitoring center 30 via a first telecommunication line 2 at normal time, and transmits operation information to the operation information gathering center 5 via the second telecommunication line 4, but transmits the abnormal reporting low in significance to a monitoring center 31 outside of control via the second telecommunication line 4 when a line selecting means 1A is started when the earthquake occurs, and transmits only the abnormal reporting high in the significance to the controlling monitoring center 30 via the first telecommunication line 2.
