PURPOSE: To shorten a time for notifying slave stations and a master station of a change in the stations by sequentially transmitting tokens from the slave stations of terminals to the stations of higher-order in one polling without executing polling for respective slave stations from the master station.
CONSTITUTION: The master station 0 and plural slave stations 1∼N including token originating/relaying transmission circuits 112,..., M12 and N12 which share transmission lines 01, 10, 12, 21, LM, ML, MN and NM connected with the master station 0, which attach the tokens of 'full' when there is data for transmitting to the master station 0 in accordance with polling signals which the master station 0 originates, and which transmit the tokens of 'empty' to the slave stations 1∼N of higher-order. Thus, the change of the state in the slave stations 1∼N can speedily be notified to the master station 0 by preserving the function and characteristic of a polling system.
