Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5794096
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
1438227 Removal of ammonia from gases SIMON-CARVES Ltd 28 June 1974 [2 July 1973] 28697/74 Heading C1A Ammonia is removed from gases (particularly coke oven gases) by scrubbing the gases with ammonium bisulphite solution (preferably of concentration 15 to 40 wt. per cent, and most preferably 20 to 30 wt. per cent) and treating the ammonium sulphite solution formed with a combustion gas containing sulphur dioxide to regenerate the ammonium bisulphite solution, a portion of which is drawn off and burnt to provide the sulphur dioxide for the regeneration. The solution to be burnt may be concentrated to 70 to 80 wt. per cent, and the gases formed in burning may be cooled to 300% to 500‹ C. (preferably 350‹ to 450‹ C.) by liquid-gas contact before the gases are contacted with the ammonium sulphite solution.
