Abstract:

PURPOSE: To remove heavy metals from a hydrocarbon oil efficiently by a simple means.

CONSTITUTION: A hydrocarbon oil containing heavy metals is mixed with a chelating agent in an amount 1-100 times by mole the weight of the contained heavy metals, and the resulting mixture is brought into contact with alumina to remove the heavy metals by adsorption.
