Abstract:

PURPOSE: To separate and remove metals contained in coals, by mixing finely pulverized coals with heated water and separating water from the resulting slurry before drying.

CONSTITUTION: Coals 5 such as bituminous coal, brown coal or coke being the dry distillation product of coal are finely pulverized by a crusher 1 such as a ball mill to obtain fine particles with a particle size of 0.25mm or less. Finely pulverized coals 6 are sent to a preparation process 2 and mixed with preheated water 11 at a wt. ratio of 1:3 or more. This mixture is sent to a separation process 3 and separated into a water phase and a solid phase under such a condition that temp. is 100°C or more and a stay time is 10min or more. Na, K, Ti or Mg contained in coals are separated and removed to the water phase while precipitated coals 9 as the solid phase are removed from residual moisture in a dehydration process 4 to be recovered as metal removed coals 10.
