Abstract:

PURPOSE: To remove soot from a lubricating oil used in a non-gasoline fueled internal combustion engine by bringing the lubricating oil into contact with a specified heterogeneous strong base.

CONSTITUTION: Soot is removed from a lubricating oil used in a non-gasoline fueled internal combustion engine by bringing the lubricating oil into contact with a heterogeneous strong base such as barium oxide, calcium hydroxide, magnesium carbonate, magnesium hydroxide, magnesium chloride, sodium aluminate, sodium carbonate, sodium hydroxide or zinc oxide for a time sufficient to fix at least a part of the soot in the oil on the strong base.
