To obtain a remover composition effective for removing a coating film or a bonded object from the surface of a metal dissolving a metal or a metal compound in an aqueous alkali solution.
This aqueous alkali solution is obtained by dissolving an alkali metal and/or an alkaline earth metal or hydroxides, carbonates, hydrogencarbonates, metasilicates, or like salts thereof in common ion-exchanged water, distilled water, tap water or the like. The aqueous alkali solution may be replaced by an aqueous solution of an amine or an ammonium salt compound. The metals which can be used may be any metals that can be dissolved in an aqueous alkali solution. These metals can be used in the form of compounds such as alkoxides, halides, sulfides, nitrides, or the like, organic acid salts, inorganic acid salts, metal acid salts, or the like. It is desirable that the stability in an aqueous solution is secured by using a combination of such a metal with a coordination compound or a chelating coordination compound.
