Title:
REMOVING METHOD FOR OXYGEN FROM GAS CONTAINING OXYGEN CONSISTING ESSENTIALLY OF HYDROGEN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5826004
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To efficiently remove oxygen from gaseous hydrogen contg. oxygen and to increase the effect of separating hydrogen by passing the gaseous starting material through layers of a platelike catalyst manufactured by supporting the oxide of an iron group metal and a rare earth element, and a platinum group metal on a carrier impregnated with silica.

CONSTITUTION: A platelike catalyst 19 is manufactured by supporting the oxide of an iron group metal and a rare earth element, and a platinum group metal on a ceramic fiber carrier impregnated with silica. The catalyst 19 and a plurality of heat and corrosion resistant wire nets 20 are alternately laminated in a deoxidation tower 11 so that the height of each wire net layer 20 is made 2W10 times the thickness of the catalyst 19. A hydrogen-base gas contg. oxygen such as coke oven gas is introduced into the tower 11 from the lower part, and it is allowed to flow upward while applying uniform load to the whole surface of the catalyst 19 by dispersion with a dispersing plate 21. During this time, the contained oxygen is converted into steam by reaction with hydrogen, and a deoxidized gas contg. steam is obtd.
