PURPOSE: To prevent scattering of the toner at the maintenance by redriving the photosensitive drum alone according to changing-over to a maintenance switch thereby recovering the unrecovered toner.

CONSTITUTION: When a main switch is changed over to a maintenance switch, paper clogging is detected. If there is no more paper clogging, only the photosensitive drum 20 is turned again by a driving source, by which a small amount of the unrecovered toner which has deposited at the tip of a cleaning blade 23 spaced from the drum 20 without being recovered is recovered by a fur brush 27. After this, the drum 20 stops. Hence, the maintenance of the copying apparatus after this is accomplished in the state that the scattering or the like of the toner does not occur.
