PURPOSE: A treating material which is obtained by mixing specific titanium acid, sulfuric acid and water at specific proportions, and granulating the same then applying heat treatment thereto and which removes and recovers radium and uranium efficiently from under-water.
CONSTITUTION: Titanium acid of anatase type or amorphous type and sulfuric acid as well as water are mixed at proportions of 8mol/0.1W7.2mol/0W50mol. This titanium acid has the chemical formula TiO2.nH2O and is obtained by heating an aqueous soln. of titanium sulfate and titanium tetrachloride, and hydrolyzing the same, and washing the resultant solids followed by filtering and drying. This mixture is granulated under pressure, for example, with a screw type extrusion granulating machine and is dried, after which it is heat treated at around 100W500°C, whereby the treating material consisting of granular inorg. ion exchangers is obtained.
