NEW MATERIAL: A compd. expressed by formula I (R1 is absent or H, 1-11C alkanoyl, etc.; A is the compd., etc., expressed by formula II ((n) and (m) are 0-4; R5 and R6 are each phenyl, 2-thienyl, etc.); B is phenylalanine, histidine, etc.; R2 is H, 1-10C alkyl, etc.; R3 is H, 6-14C aryl, etc., R4 is the compd. expressed by formula III (X is CF2, CO, etc., (p) and (q) are each 0-4; R7 is H, OH, etc.); R9 is OH or F).

EXAMPLE: Isovaleryl-Phe-His 1(S)-cyclohexylmethyl-2(S)-hydroxy-6-oxo-6- phenylhexylamide.

USE: An antihypertensive, having a renin-inhibiting function.

PROCESS: The compd. expressed by formula I is obtained by coupling a fragment having a terminal carboxyl group or its reactive deriv. to a corresponding fragment having a free amino group and removing a protective group at need.
