Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a repeater interface controller(RIC) suitable for connecting segments of a bus/tree type LAN. CONSTITUTION: Each RIC 10 meeting the IEE 802.3 repeater specifications is connected to 13 physical transmission medium segments. A port 12 is an AUI having adaptability to an MAU by using a maximum length of an AUI cable. The other 12 ports 14 are coupled with an integrated 10 BASE-T transceiver 16. The RIC 10 gives port status information 20 via an LED array display device and a system processor interface. Furthermore, the RIC 10 has a counter status flag array to facilitate the total collection of the network. A serial management interface 24 is used for hub management.
