Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a reactor material residual stress improving method that can improve the residual tensile stress of reactor material with simple constitution by making use of thermal shock distortion.
CONSTITUTION: A nozzle 14 connected to a low temperature water tank 12 and a high pressure pump 15 provided outside of a reactor 21 through a conduit 17 is led into a pressure vessel 9 by drive mechanism and moved until it is opposed to the specified position of a core shroud 13. Cold water (20°C, for instance in the low temperature water tank 12 is then pressure-boosted by the high pressure pump 15, fed into the conduit 17 and jetted as high-speed cold water jet 8 from the nozzle 14 so as to collide with the specified place of the core shroud 13 in high temperature reactor water 11. While continuing the jet of cold water jet 8 from the nozzle 14, the nozzle 14 is moved vertically by the drive mechanism, and the nozzle 14 is reciprocated so as to make the cold jet 8 repeatedly collide with the same place plural times.
