Abstract:

To provide a method and a mold assembly for reducing, at a low cost and effectively, the residual stress of a metal sheet product after processing.

In the method for reducing the residual stress, after the metal sheet product 1 is heated or is processed at room temperature, dies 2 and 2' which are colder than the room temperature and have the reversed shape of the product are pressed against the metal sheet product 1 from its top and bottom surfaces. In this case, it is preferable to keep the die pressing force at 10% or lower of the yield stress of the metal sheet product and to make the clearance between a cope or drag and the metal sheet product 10% or thinner of the thickness of the metal sheet product.
