PURPOSE: A resin additive that is composed of an amorphous powder of metal- substituted aluminosilicate which has been prepared by cation-exchanging amorphous sodium aluminosilicate, thus being suitably used as a heat stabilizer for halogen-containing resin.
CONSTITUTION: The objective additive for resins are obtained by allowing, e.g., aqueous sodium silicate to react with sodium aluminate and effecting the ion-exchange treatment of the resultant gel of amorphous sodium aluminosilicate, preferably a synthetic zeolite which can be given in the formula, when it is represented in the oxide form (the Na-A type is preferred) by using aqueous solution containing at least one selected from Ca, Mg, Ba, Zn, Pb and Cu to treat the slurry of the gel. The product is thoroughly rinsed with water, dried and crushed into fine particles. The amount of the additive is 0.01W50pts.wt., preferably 0.05W30pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. of the resin.
