PURPOSE: To provide the title compsn. giving a coating film excellent in adhesion, weatherability, corrosion resistance, edge-covering properties, etc., by compounding a hydroxylated and cationized resin, a specific epoxy resin, and a finely particulate gelled polymer.
CONSTITUTION: A polymerizable unsatd. vinylsilane monomer having a vinylic double bond and a hydrolyzable alkoxysilane group, a blocked polyisocyanate, a polymerizable unsatd. monomer having a vinylic double bond and a hydroxyl group, and other polymerizable monomers are emulsion-polymerized in the presence of a reactive emulsifier having an allyl group in the molecule to produce a finely particulate gelled polymer. The obtained polymer, a hydroxylated and cationized resin (e.g. a reaction product of a polyepoxy resin with a cationizing agent), and an epoxy resin having at least two epoxy groups condensed to (bridged) alicyclic rings in the molecule are compounded as the main components to give the title compsn.
