Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject resin composition capable of giving coating film excellent in weatherability, water resistance and contamination resistance by incorporating an emulsion polymer with a silicone-contg. compound and a curing catalyst.
SOLUTION: This resin composition is obtained by incorporating (A) 100 pts.wt. of an emulsion copolymer prepared by emulsion copolymerization between (i) a silyl group-bearing vinyl monomer of formula I (R1 is a 1-10C alkyl, a 6-10C aryl, etc.; X1 is a halogen, etc.; (a) is 0, 1 or 2) and (ii) a vinyl monomer copolymerizable with the component (i) with (B) 1-50 pts.wt. of a silicone-contg. compound of formula II (R2 to R5 are each a 1-10C alkyl, a 6-10C aryl, etc.; R6 is a direct bond, etc.; X2 is an alkoxy, etc.; (l), (m) and (n) are each an integer satisfying the following molar ratio: (l)/(m)/(n)=(1-50):(1-50):(0-50)) and (C) 0-20 pts.wt. of a curing catalyst. Thus, this resin composition can be used suitably in coating for both interior and exterior finish works for buildings and for automobiles, etc., being capable of giving coating film having excellent performance to these objects.
