PURPOSE: To obtain the subject water-based composition having excellent abrasion resistance, corrosion resistance and water-resistance and dryable at normal temperature by dispersing a specific urethane polymer in water containing a base.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition is produced by (1) reacting (A) a polyol mixture consisting of (i) 1-60 pts.wt. of a polyol having two OH groups and an average molecular weight of 50-200, (ii) 35-99 pts.wt. of a polyol having two OH groups and an average molecular weight of 200-5,000 and (iii) 0-5 pts.wt. of a polyol having ≥3 OH groups, (B) a polyol containing functional group neutralizable with a base and having ≥2 OH groups reactive with isocyanate and (C) an organic diisocyanate in such a manner as to get a urethane polymer having an acid value of 5-100mg/solid and an active isocyanate content of 0.01-10% and (2) dispersing the obtained urethane polymer in water containing a base such as amine or ammonia water.
