PURPOSE: To obtain a resin composition for a thermosetting type coating material capable of forming a coating film having high hardness, high processability and excellent durability on a metal plate such as steel plate.
CONSTITUTION: In a resin composition for a thermosetting type coating material obtained by blending a polyester (I) with a cross-linking agent (II) composed of at least one of an isocyanate compound, an epoxy compound and an amino resin in a ratio of 0.01≤(II)/(I)≤0.7, the polyester (I) is one or more polyesters having molecular chain ends into which plural reactive groups are introduced by branching obtained by reacting a polyester (a) consisting essentially of a carboxylic acid containing an aromatic dicarboxylic acid as a carboxylic acid component and an aliphatic glycol as an alcohol component with a trifunctional carboxylic acid anhydride (b) and/or a hydroxyl group-containing monoepoxy compound (c) to characteristically give the resin composition for thermosetting type coating material.
