Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition for water-based paints which composition is stable even when mingled with the base powder of an inorganic porous base and capable of forming a coating film excellent in the water-resistance and also is especially suitable for a use as a surface treatment (undercoating) for porous boards, and to provide a water-based paint.
SOLUTION: The resin composition for water-based paints is obtained by emulsion-polymerizing (A) 0.5-20 wt.% of a reactive nonionic emulsifier having in a molecule a polyethylene glycol chain and/or a polypropylene glycol chain each with an average addition mole number of 15 moles or more, (B) 0.5-10 wt.% of a reactive anionic emulsifier having a polyethylene glycol chain and/or a polypropylene glycol chain, (C) 20-70 wt.% of styrene, (D) 0.1-10 wt.% of an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid and (E) 0-78.9 wt.% of an α,β-ethylenically unsaturated monomer other than the above (A), (B), (C) and (D) components. The water-based paint is added with the resin composition for water-based paints.
