Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a resin composition having improved compatibility and excellent mechanical properties, especially impact strength, by melting an kneading a polyphenylene ether resin, an unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon and a polyolefin resin. CONSTITUTION:The objective resin composition is produced by melting and kneading (A) a polyphenylene ether resin, preferably poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4- phenylene) ether with (B) a 2-35C aliphatic hydrocarbon containing one or more carbon-carbon double bond or carbon-carbon triple bond and free from polar group, preferably an olefin of formula I (n is 2-30), more preferably an alpha-olefin of formula II and (C) a polyolefin resin, preferably crystalline propylene homopolymer or crystalline porpylene-ethylene copolymer. The weight ratio of A:B is 1:99 to 99:1 and the amount of the component C is 0.1-50 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the component A.
