To obtain a resin composition having excellent gas barrier properties by mixing a polyalcohol resin prepared by reducing a polyketone comprising a carbon monoxide/ethylene alternating copolymer with a specified partially saponified etylene/vinyl acetate copolymer.
A polyketone comprising a carbon monoxide/ethylene alternating copolymer is reduced to prepare a polyalcohol resin (A) comprising 80% or above repeating units represented by the formula and having a melting point of 110-160°C, a density of 1.16-1.20g/cm3 and an intrinsic viscosity (in a water/ phenol mixture at 30°C) of 0.2-5dl/g. Next, resin A is mixed with a partially saponified ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer (B) having an ethylene content of 80-94mol%, a degree of saponification of the vinyl acetate component of 20% or above and a melt index of 0.1-100g/10min (at 190°C under a load of 2160kg) in a weight ratio (A)/(B) of 97/3 to 55/45, and the obtained mixture is melt-kneaded with a twin-screw extruder and palletized to obtain a resin composition excellent in transparency and flexibility.
