PURPOSE: To obtain a resin for denture base having improved thermal conductivity and mechanical characteristics, by blending a resin with whiskers and/or short fiber filler having high thermal conductivity.
CONSTITUTION: A resin is blended with a filler (e.g. short fibers of metal or alloy, silicon nitride, silicon carbide or aluminum oxide) having high thermal conductivity to give a resin for denture base. Thermal conductivity of the resin increases with rise of amount of the filler added, mechanical strength is also increased but an excessive amount of the filler added loses surface smoothness of resin for denture base, enlarges water supply and makes the base brittle so that fixation of optimum amount added is required. By some combination of the filler and the resin, since the resin has insufficient wetting properties as it is, in that case, the surface of the filler is roughly processed or is treated with a surface treating agent. By using the above-mentioned resin, a denture base capable of feeling heat of drink and food can be produced.
