Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a resin for vibration-damping materials, excellent in vibration-damping properties, adhesion to substrates and weather resistance and having a wide temperature range in which the vibration-damping properties are manifested.
CONSTITUTION: This resin for vibration-damping materials comprises a block copolymer expressed by the formula A-B [A denotes (co)polymer of at least one monomer of styrene, its derivative, an acrylic acid ester of a 1-3C alcohol, a methacrylic acid ester of the 1-3C alcohol, acrylamide, its derivative, methacrylamide, its derivative and vinyl ester of a 1-12C fatty acid; B denotes (co)polymer of at least one of acrylic acid ester, its derivative, a methacrylic acid ester and its derivative, with the proviso that A and B may be bound through sulfur atom]. In the block copolymer, the glass transition temperature of the component A is ≥50°C and that of the component B is ≤30°C.
