Title:
RESISTANCE WELDING SENSOR ASSEMBLY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3204904
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure in real time the clamping loads of a welding electrode without suspending the operation of a welding equipment.
SOLUTION: This is an electrical resistance welding sensor assembly useful for detecting various resistance welding process parameters during welding operations. It is provided with a base element 20 adapted to be inserted into a tapered, water-cooled electrode tip holder 12, with a sensor element 22 adapted to receive a tapered, water-cooled electrode tip 14, and with an integral coolant passageway 37, 35 extending through these elements. The sensor element has a wall component 32 which is provided with various adhered electrical transducer devices 50-60, which transmits welding process clamping loads and electrical currents, and which is cooled by a coolant passed through the coolant passageway.
