Title:
RESISTIVE TRANSFER ELEMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH10207254
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To control the resistivity within a desired range and to obtain excellent electric characteristics, chemical characteristics and mechanical characteristics by forming a fluoroelastomer layer filled with fluorinated carbon.

The intermediate transfer element 24 has a single layer structure, and the single layer 30 consists of a fluoropolymer, preferably a fluoroelastomer, and more preferably a fluoroelastomer filled with fluorinated carbon. The fluorinated carbon 31 is uniformly dispersed in the fluoroelastomer. The fluorinated carbon 31 is supposed to crosslink with the fluoroelastomer. Since the combination of the fluorinated carbon 31 with the fluoroelastomer gives stable resistivity in a desired range from about 107 to 1013Ω.m-2, a high transfer rate of toner particles from a light-accepting body to the intermediate transfer member can be obtd. Especially, by using the fluoroelastomer filled with fluorinated carbon as above described, stable resistivity in a desired range can be obtd. while exchange of charges between the intermediate transfer member and the toner or a charge crienting agent can be largely decreased.
