PURPOSE: To simplify the exclusive control when the work station resources are used by a host by producing a resource acquiring request command when a resource using request given from an input device is detected and then producing a release request command when a using end report is detected.

CONSTITUTION: When a host 1 performs an input/output process with use of a printer device 9 of a work station 4, etc., as a terminal, an emulator function 5 of the station 4 detects a relevant telegram and produces a resource acquiring command. An OS 8 acquires the corresponding resources in response to the resource acquiring command. When the acquired resources are released, the telegram reported to the host 1 from the station 4 is detected by the function 5 when the use of the resources is over. Then a release command is produced to ask the OS 8 for release of the resources. Thus the acquired resources are released. As a result, it is possible to attain the effective control of resources via the exclusive control to the resources using request given from the host 1 with the terminal emulation of the station 4 as well as to the resources using request given from a local process.
