PURPOSE: To effectively make response for an automatic answering telephone with a simple construction, by assuming a part of a response tape from a sensor to an arbitrary time as the 1st response message and another part to the sensor with a non-recording part for a short time as the 2nd response message, and transmitting these messages.

CONSTITUTION: A sensor 10 is provided at a part of an endless tape, on which the 1st response message recording a business message for an arbitrary time from the sensor 10 and the 2nd response message exclusive for response with a non-recording part for a short time are provided. As the response message to a caller, when the business tape 13 is not at the end, the tape waits for the call at the sensor of a response tape 9 and when bell incoming call is given, the 1st response message only is transmitted. When the business tape 13 comes to the end, a control section 23 is operative and the tape waits at the non-recording part provided after the 1st response message and the 2nd response message is transmitted through the bell incoming call.
