Abstract:

PURPOSE: To restore a hollow fiber membrane module by holding vertically it, elevating the level of a liquid sealant to the upper position than the failed position to solidify the sealant and cutting a bundle of fibers at such a height that the non-failed bores are exposed.

CONSTITUTION: The module is vertically held and immediately dipped in the liquid sealant 9 and the shell-side is connected with a sucking line and then the level of the sealant 9 is elevated to the upper position than the failed position 2 of the broken fiber 1. When the sealant 9 is solidified, the broken fiber 1 is clogged and consequently a bundle of fibers is cut at such a height that the bores of the non-failed fibers are exposed and then the broken fiber can be selectively removed after bundled.
