To solve the problem that the undeteriorated portion of a photographic recording medium may also be removed.
A restoration method for restoring an original image from a photographic recording medium includes: a transmitted light-imaging step (step S50) for generating first image data; a scattered light-imaging step (step S51) for generating second image data; a pattern inversion step (step S52) for providing the same pattern by inverting a pattern; a gradation value range shift step (S53) for shifting the ranges of gradation values of the first image data and the second image data; and a gradation value addition step (step S54) for generating third image data by adding gradation values at the same pixel position.
