To prevent an oil film from being broken between a cylindrical roller and a pillar by a projection of a parting line generated in the pillar of a retainer.
A retainer for a cylindrical roller bearing is a molding of a synthetic resin having a plurality of pillars between two circular ring sections 17, 18 and having a pocket 21 housing a cylindrical roller between the pillars. One circular ring section 17 has its inner diameter surface located radially outward of the outer diameter surface of the other side circular ring section 18, and is injection-molded by a pair of dies partitioned in the axial direction of the bearing. A linear groove 23 along the whole length in the axial direction is arranged on the circumferential side face of the pillar section 19, and a linear parting line of the die is located in the inner surface of the groove 23. A projection 44 generated in the parting line at the time of molding is formed within the groove 23, and the cylindrical roller 15 within the pocket 21 rotates smoothly without contacting with the projection 44. A film including lubricating oil within the groove 23 is formed in the inside face 22 of the pocket 21 of the pillar section 19, and the oil film is prevented from being broken.
