PURPOSE: To provide the retainer of a metal gasket which can retain the metal basket by conducting centering and can permit the outer diameter change of the metal gasket.
CONSTITUTION: This retainer possesses a support ring portion 11 that is approximately concentric with a metal gasket 1; arm portions 12 which are provided in plurality along the peripheral direction of the metal gasket 1 and extend respectively in a diametrical direction and whose each one end is connected to the support ring portion 11 and at the same time whose other ends support the outer periphery surface of the metal gasket 1; and a retainer portion 13 that is connected to the support ring portion 11 and fitted to a connection member, and peripheral expansion is made possible by the support ring portion 11 being cut apart. As a result, the outer diameter change of the metal gasket 1 is permitted by the deformation of the support ring portion 11, and the metal gasket 1 is retained, for example by conducting centering, at a predetermined position in regard to the connection member by means of the retainer consisting of the arm portions 12, the support ring portion 11 and the retainer portion 13.
