Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a piston head subassembly easily held in assembling causing no nonconformity.
CONSTITUTION: This invention is a retainer 50 for a piston-valve subassembly of a scotch yoke compressor, and a method of assembling it. The subassembly is composed of a piston head 10, a suction valve 22, a spacer 36, a stop washer 38, and a rod 26 held together by the retainer 50. After this suction valve 22 is assembled on the rod 26, the rod 26 is inserted into the piston head 10. Next, the retainer 50 is installed on one end pat of the rod 26 for friction engagement of the piston with the rod 26, so it is installed onto a yoke 12, while the suction valve 22 and residual parts of the piston head subassembly are fixed in an axial direction.
