To provide a retainer not requiring post-processing because, in order to successively punch out pockets in a workpiece of the retainer, it is necessary to intermittently drive the workpiece by a pressing tool, however, when integration is achieved by pushing the pressing tool to an end surface of the workpiece, the workpiece is damaged and post-processing for eliminating blemish is required, and as a result, a problem that increases cost occurs.
A retainer for a rolling bearing is configured so that, in a workpiece including a body 2 and inward flange edges 4 formed at both ends of the body, pockets 6 extending between shoulders 5 formed at both ends of the body 2 are formed at regular intervals in a peripheral direction by blanking. In the retainer for the rolling bearing, outer surfaces of the flange edges 4 or the shoulders 5 are maintained in an unworked state while maintaining the workpiece as it is.
