To provide a vehicle door holding device that is able to hold a vehicle door at an arbitrary intermediate position.SOLUTION: A vehicle door holding device 10 includes: a rotary drum 20; a lock unit 40; a trigger mechanism unit 50 for driving the lock unit 40; and a torque transmission unit 30 which transmits torque during rotation of a rotary drum 20 to a trigger mechanism unit 50 via a torque limiter 35. The movable member 51 of the trigger mechanism 50 is configured to move in one direction between a first position and a second position during a closing operation at an intermediate position of a back door 6 and alternately switch the lock unit 40 to a locked state and an unlocked state of the rotary drum 20 each time the movement is repeated. The torque transmission unit 30 is configured such that in a stop state in which movement of the movable member 51 of the trigger mechanism unit 50 is blocked, and torque to be transmitted is cut off by the torque limiter 35 to release interlocking of the movable member 51 and the rotary drum 20.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
