Abstract:
PURPOSE: To appropriately set a retaining ring prior to press-in, by retractably arranging a plurality of retaining ring holding members which are energized by an energizing member so as to be always projected from the inner surface of a retaining ring diameter contracting member, at predetermined intervals in the same plane, at the inner surface of the diameter contracting member.
CONSTITUTION: A bearing is fitted in an opening of a knuckle arm while a retaining ring R is set on a plurality of retaining ring setting balls 45..., projected from the inner surface 43 of the a retaining ring diameter contracting member 41. In the case of loading the bearing, a bearing pressing member 41 is further lowered in a condition in which the retaining ring diameter contracting member 41 stops on the bearing, so that the retaining ring R set on the setting balls 45 is pressed by its shoulder part 34. Accordingly, the diameter of the retaining ring R is contracted along a tapered inner surface 42 while the balls 45 are pushed in against a spring, and the ring R is depressed horizontally.
