PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retaining wall of reinforced concrete having thin wall thickness, having an economical design, and providing safety structure to a horizontal load even in a case where there are an obstacle under the ground.SOLUTION: A box shape retaining wall 3 having a hollow space 17 in a longer side direction in its inner section is used as an upper part structure. In the box shape retaining wall 3, a rectangular section is formed with a first vertical wall 7 at the side to which a horizontal load affects; a second vertical wall 9 opposing to the first vertical wall 7; a lower slab 11 arranged between lower edges of the vertical wall 7 and the vertical wall 9; and an upper slab 13 arranged between the upper edges. In the box shape retaining wall 3, an extension part 15 is arranged on an upper part of the first vertical wall 7. In addition, a large diameter deep base piles 5 having an excellent rigidity than a normal foundation pile are used as the base part. The large diameter deep base piles 5 are arranged near below both end parts in the longer side direction of the box shape retaining wall 3 in a manner where the large diameter deep base piles 5 escapes underground obstacles 19 embedded in a ground 21 under the box shape retaining wall 3. The large diameter deep base piles 5 are hardly jointed to the lower slab 11 of the box shape retaining wall 3.
