Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a retarder with exciter in which a high brake torque can be produced by feeding power sufficiently to the field of retarder.
CONSTITUTION: A field core 12 comprising a field coil 14 wound around a pole 10 is rotated relatively to an eddy current plate 11 disposed oppositely to the pole 10 thus inducting an eddy current in the eddy current plate 11 and producing a brake torque. In such retarder, an exciter armature coil 15 is wound around the field core 12 and a flux interlinking the exciter armature coil 15 is generated from a field means 16 for exciter.
