Abstract:
To retain a component of a turbomachine.SOLUTION: A compressor component (33, 32, 50) includes a platform (52) and a mounting portion (59, 57, 60) that extends from the platform (52). The mounting portion (59, 57, 60) includes a dovetail (68) received by a slot (58, 56, 62) defined in a compressor (14) of a turbomachine (10). The slot (58, 56, 62) includes a floor (78) and a ceiling (75, 76). The dovetail (68) includes an inner surface (80) and an outer surface (82, 84). A hole (86) is defined in the dovetail (68) from an inlet (88) at the inner surface (80) to an end wall (90). The hole (86) has a cylindrical portion (96) and a tapered portion (98). A mechanical spring (100) is disposed within the hole (86) and in contact with the floor (78) and the end wall (90) such that the outer surface (82, 84) of the dovetail (68) is in contact with the ceiling (75, 76) of the slot (58, 56, 62).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
