To provide a retractable hardtop for an automobile with a space saving structure particularly in a low position condition.
The retractable hardtop for an automobile comprises a first rigid upper roof part forming a horizontal upper roof part of the automobile, a second rigid rear roof part forming a rear roof part rotatably combined with the first roof part and the automobile via a first rod assembly and extended vertically or inclinedly, and a rigid rear window movable together with the second roof part. Both the first roof part and the second roof part turn to the same rotational direction at the same time. The first roof part moves to the inner surface side of the second roof part while the second roof part turns into a retractable position of the automobile. The inner surface side of the first roof part turns to the same direction as the inner surface side of the second roof part when the both roof parts are placed at the retractable position. The rear window is rotatably arranged in the second roof part so as to turn into the inside of the second roof part when the second roof part turns inside the retractable position.
