PURPOSE: To dissolve problems on a corner indicator such as safety and outward appearance by disposing a retractable type corner indicator at the corner of a body with a low nose so that at least a part of it is visible to a driver at the time of elevating its rod.

CONSTITUTION: A retractable type corner indicator 13 is disposed at the front corner 11 or the rear corner 12 of a body 10 with a low nose. The corner indicator 13 is mainly formed of a cylindrical rod 15 elevated by drive mechanism 14 and a light emitting part 16 fitted at the top of the rod 15. The rod 15 is rigidly secured at one end connecting part 19 of a synthetic resin wire 18 wound/ connected (22) to a pulley 17, and the rod 15 is moved up or down in the direction of A or B inside a guide cylinder 20 by the unwinding or winding action of the wire 18. A pinion 23 fitted at the axis of the pulley 17 is further meshed with a worn 26 formed at the shaft 25 of a motor 24 rotatable both clockwise and counterclockwise.
