Abstract:

To provide an improved method for retrospectively measuring neutron fluence in a sample exposed to radiation by measuring the amount of transformation or conversion of the isotope generated in the sample after the irradiation period.

This method is an alternative method for retrospectively measuring the neutron fluence in an irradiated sample having at least one kind of elements whose mass fraction is known. The improved method comprises the steps of obtaining the irradiated sample, measuring the sample and determining a relative existing amount of at least one isotope of at least one kind of elements depleted or generated by neutron induced transformation, and presuming the neutron fluence based on the known neutron cross section.
