To provide a retrograde display mechanism in which the reverse rotation of a driving wheel does not have an effect on display and an analog timepiece having the mechanism.
The retrograde display mechanism 2 of the analog timepiece 1 includes: a date indicator driving wheel 7 which has a feed claw 36 and can be rotated in both normal and reverse directions; a cam 53 having a gear provided with a large number of teeth and a spiral cam surface 54 of which the distance from the rotational central axis gradually increases, a rotation transmission wheel 50 which is driven to rotate in the normal direction by the teeth of the gear 51 through the feed claw 36 of the date indicator driving wheel 7 when the date indicator driving wheel 7 is rotated in the normal direction, and retrograde display units 60, 20 having a cam follower 61 which is engaged with the cam surface. When the date indicator driving wheel 7 is rotated in the normal direction, the feed claw 36 is moved to a position allowing it to be engaged with the gear of the rotation transmission wheel 50 to rotatingly drive the gear. When the date indicator driving wheel is rotated in the reverse direction, the feed claw 36 is moved to a position allowing it not to be engaged with the gear 51 of the rotation transmission wheel 50.
