Abstract:

PURPOSE:To obtain the title inhibitor which is useful in treatment for retrovirus infection, especially AIDS, with excellent combination of safety and efficacy, by containing monosaccharide or disaccharide derivative as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:The inhibitor contains, as an active ingredient, monosaccharide, disaccharide, or their sugar alcohol, deoxy saccharide, aminosaccharide, uronic saccharide, sugar acid, cyclitol, or other analogues, or inorganic or organic acid esters therefrom. These compounds sufficiently inhibits the proliferation of retrovirus with extremely reduced dose and can be used to inhibit the progress or development of retrovirus infections, for treatment and prevention. Since it has low molecular weight, the inhibitor is rapidly absorbed into bodies, smoothly distributes all in organs and tissues including brain to manifest its action promptly and continuously for hours, without change in its chemical structure.
