Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently remove impure antimony from active material paste, obviate refining of a positive electrode active material, and reuse it with less energy consumption by inputting/agitating positive electrode active material paste for a used lead-acid battery to/in an exudate such as a sulfuric acid, a nitric acid and a tartaric acid, and leaching out an insoluble solid substance. SOLUTION: Positive electrode active material paste for a used lead-acid battery is inputted to and agitated in an exudate composed of a sulfuric acid, a nitric acid, a tartaric acid or a mixed acid of these. Therefore, antimony in the active material paste is exuded by destroying a PbO2 crystal to surround this, and about 95% or more of it can be removed, and an insoluble solid substance composed of a residual lead compound is leached out, and is reused as a positive electrode active material. An oxidizing agent such as persulfuric acid ammonium, a reducing agent such as a hydrogen peroxide, a surfactant such as an alkyl benzene sulfonic acid and a complexing agent particularly to a sulfuric acid, are added to the exudate according to its necessity, and exudation of antimony and recovery of a lead dioxide can be promoted.
