To provide a reverse input cutoff clutch whose reliability is improved and the lifetime is prolonged by surely cutting off a reverse input acting on an output member, thereby preventing transmission of the reverse input to an input member.
A reverse input cutoff clutch includes: an input member 1 having an input engage piece; an output member 3 having an output engage piece engaged with the input engage piece; an engage member 5; a braking member 7 capable of holding and braking the engage member 5; and an outer ring member 9. Even when the reverse input acting on the output member 3 and the reverse input acting on the input member 1 are in any direction, a braking force of the braking member 7 acts on the engage member 5, such that, when the reverse input acts on the output member 3, the engage member 5 is engaged between the output member 3 and the outer ring member 9 in a short time and surely presents a locked state.
