PURPOSE: To improve a contrast of a picture and erasing of the picture by providing a reversible heat sensitive recording layer containing a colorant, a developer and a high molecule cation series conducting agent on a support to form a reversible heat sensitive recording medium.

CONSTITUTION: Predetermined amounts of colorant, developer and high molecule cation series conducting agent are added, uniformly dispersed or dissolved together with binder in water or organic solvent to prepare coating solution for a heat sensitive recording layer. A support made of paper, a synthetic sheet, a plastic film is coated with the solution, and dried to form a reversible heat sensitive recording layer which becomes a stable coloring state at the ambient temperature by heating to melt and a stable color erased state at the ambient temperature by erasing a record by heating it to a coloring recording temperature or lower. A heat insulating layer containing hollow fine particles can be interposed between the recording layer and the support. Further, a protective layer containing aqueous emulsion of aqueous soluble polymer and hydrophobic polymer as a main ingredient can be provided on the recording layer.
