PURPOSE: To secure the accuracy of data to be recorded and to obtain selectivity with respect to a wavelength and intensity by dispersing a reversible recording medium wherein a photothermal recording body based on a polymer liquid crystal in a crystal state is held between positive and negative electrodes in a resin in a granular state.
CONSTITUTION: A precursor having a property becoming a liquid crystal upon polymerization, an ultraviolet or electron beam curable resin oligomer or monomer and a dye are held to temp. slightly higher than the transparent point of the precursor to prepare a solution body, which is, in turn, formed into a film on a substrate and the film is slowly cooled to be held at temp. permitting the precursor to show a nematic phase. Whereupon, the precursor is precipitated in the resin as a granular substance of an micron order. The film is irradiated with ultraviolet rays or electron beam to form a matrix and, at the same time, the granular precursor is polymerized to form a granular photothermal recording medium wherein the dye is contained in particles.
