Abstract:
The present invention relates to a reversing method for the fast reversal of the rotation of a uniflow scavenging type large two-stroke diesel engine. The engine includes a cylinder having a piston which is able to move back and forth between a top dead center and a bottom dead center. The engine also includes an outlet valve operated hydraulically through an electronic control device by a hydraulic medium under a predetermined open pressure through valve hydraulic system components. Desirably, the present invention stops a fuel supply to the engine by a stop command to the electronic control device and/or maintains the stop state of the fuel supply in order to reduce the rotation speed of the engine in a first rotation direction in a first brake step which follows a preparatory brake step. The present invention comprises: the first brake step which opens a plurality of outlet valves of the engine in a predetermined order at a speed less than a predetermined rotation speed limit, wherein the open outlet valves are maintained to be open until the first brake step finishes; and a second brake step which suppresses the supply of desired air through desired slits of cylinders as all outlet valves of the cylinders are closed simultaneously. In a process in which a related piston is compressed between a crank angle ranging from 0° to 180°, the engine rotates in a rotation direction, which is opposite to the first rotation direction, in a kick-start step following the second brake step. The present invention additionally relates to a computer program product and the engine to perform the reversing method.
